Paying Your Caregivers
While going through a registry model takes some of the responsibility off of you, once your aide is placed within the home, you, or the appointed financial guarantor is responsible for paying your aides directly. Once your initial intake has taken place, a member of the LCHAP team will always recommend a rate that is fair to the aide, based on the level of care. While the rate that the office recommends is based off industry standards, as the employer, you are welcome to discuss or negotiate payrate of aide prior to their first visit. Our business administration fee is not something that can be negotiated.
As we build your initial schedule, you will receive an email from a member of our office with details of who your aide is and the payrate that was discussed with them. We highly recommend on the first visit to confirm with them the payrate that you both feel comfortable with and a pay frequency schedule (we recommend once per week). You will receive an invoice from your aide, based off that initial conversation, and are free to pay them right away. Our business admin fee is a separate bill and is billed out on a bi-weekly basis.
Tips
- Connect with them prior to or on the first visit to confirm payrate and preferred pay frequency
- Discuss payment method preference – our aides are happy to take most forms of payment, however, it is still important to discuss
- Discuss their expectations for holiday pay – Our office cannot dictate whether an aide gets paid more on the holidays – this is a conversation that needs to happen between the caregiver and the client
- Discuss expected reimbursement’s if the aide is driving the client in their own vehicle – do they expect to get paid for gas or mileage?
- Don’t ever accept and pay an invoice that has prescheduled dates – invoices should only contain dates that have been worked already
